Hi Guys...Bought the Disco with the caravan in tow down to the South of France on Monday. Filled up in the UK as normal and on the way down through France had to stop off for a refuel.
At the time...Big Problem !! the fuel flap would not open and the fuel computer was showing just over 60 miles of fuel left. Checked the fuse (F50-10 amp) behind the glovebox-looked OK.
Decided to bite the bullet as it was showing just over 60 miles worth of fuel left, and forced the flap open with a large screwdriver and then levered the flap itself off at the plastic hinge-at least I can fill up now, minus the flap.
Looking at Ebay and the workshop manual on my laptop, it appears the flap is released by a solenoid/cable actuator and I suspect one or both of those gave up the ghost. The plastic latch mechanism I suspect has also been damaged due to my efforts but desperate circumstances sometimes require desperate measures !!
I see from the workshop manual that inside access to the fuel flap assembly requires the lower C panel in the loadspace area removal.
Has anyone else suffered the same problem .
I can get the parts needed when we get back home in a few weeks time and live without the fuel flap.
Cheers Guys
