Further to my previous thread.
Can anybody help.
I have 3 wheels numbered RRC002960XXX.
6.0JX16H2
ET46.00 E DOT

and 1 wheel numbered RRC114780XXX
6.0JX16H2
ET46.00 E DOT
All 4 wheels came off the same Freelander but I do not know the model or year of the donor car and I cannot try them on my 2001TD4S Auto because my Wife is using it to visit a sick relative and it wont be back for a few days.
Does anyone know if these wheels will fit my Freelander without spacers?
Are there any measurements I can take to verify whether they will fit or not?
Any help would really be appreciated
cheers

Do all later wheels have dimples between bolt holes?

Al the later 16" wheels do. I'm not sure about the 15" or 17" though.

Here's my Triple Sports

I don't think there were 17" Freelander wheels until after the introduction of the V6 & TD4 so therefore they are all suitable for the bigger caliper brakes.

At least I've never seen any without dimples.

We now wait for someone to say they have 17" wheels without dimples.

I was looking at some 17* Triple Sports on ebay the other day which had no dimples and were listed as fitting 1997 -2000 Freelanders!! So they are about.

They only did the dimples in the wheels for about four years, so depending on wheel type and stock levels, some cars from 2005 on have no dimples, some do.
A quick check on autotrader shows this.

Based on the part numbers and your car being a td4 with the bigger brakes then only the one with the dimples will fit without spacers.

Putting the wheel with the dimples next to one without the dimples, can I somehow measure them both to see if they have the same measurements? and if so what would I measure?

Further to my last message,
I bought these wheels off ebay and I have written proof that they came off the same car.
Would it have been possible to safely drive the Freelander with 3 older wheels and one newer dimpled wheel? Wouldn"t that have affected the track on either the front or rear?

Afaik lt is only the internal Clearance to allow for the bigger calipers thats different.
They will all go on but will bind on the calipers.

The difference is in the curved parts on the inside of the spokes.

Fouling the calipers is of course only a front wheel problem - the odd wheel can go on the back - surely.

As for coming off the same car - that I don't doubt - but were they all put on the same car at the factory?

There's a good chance a previous owner had to replace a wheel at some point and possibly just bought one off eBay unaware that would be any difference.

On the rear, the inside of the wheel comes into contact with the outer edge of the drum before the mating faces of the wheel and drum come together.
This eventually can cause the inside of the wheel to wear, someone on here had two studs snap as a rear wheel came loose

As posted above the early wheels wont bolt on front or back , they jam on caliper at front and dont seat on flange at rear , the back is most dangerous as you can drive with them bolted on , on the front everything is jammed up .

If you have an early the later wheels fit , the opposite doesnt work

Why?? thet are the same width and offset so none will fit.

mudinuri...just to throw more confusion into the mix the wheels that I removed from my 2001 ES didn't have dimples...they had holes where the dimples are! I've been scouring my pics of all the Freelander wheels that I've had over the years (freestyle/trek/sports/triple sport old and triple sport new) hoping to find a pic of the back of the wheel because I'm fairly certain the later wheels are wider (more than 6H) and a different offset.

OK - thanks for the correction.

I've learned something new today - again.

I had no idea of this - I thought it was only a caliper fouling problem.

ok...having doen some digging of old parts lists etc...

RRC002960XXX was fitted from 2001 on so good news cos these will fit :D

RRC114780XXX was fitted 98-00 so bad news cos this one won't :(

Now this is confusing.
If what markyzs180 says is correct, then the 3 alloys without dimples will fit my 2001 Freelander but the one with dimples will not fit, that"s contrary to what nearly everyone else has been saying!
This gets stranger and stranger.
