Alloy Wheel compatibility for '99 2.0 XEDI

Sorry if this has been done before and I've missed it. I have searched and found a thread saying that the earlier Freelander wheels will not fit later models but I cant find a clear answer to what I'm after:
My Freelander 2.0 XEDI ('99 - 5 door) has 15" wheels as standard. Can I fit any of the later wheels (or larger alloys designed for later Freelanders) - Eg. 16" or 17"?

If yes, are there any mods required to make them fit properly? Any clearance issues etc? ... Or can you just take 15" off and bolt bigger wheels straight on? Eg. 16"

my 99 aniversary has 16's as standard, so would imagine its a straight swap!

Straight swap.

The earlier alloys don't fit the later vehicles.

Cheers. Appreciate the repy Blippie. Sorry for appearing a numpty (but sadly I am! ) - am I right in saying that ANY Freelander 1 16" or 17" wheels will go straight onto mine with no issues?

Early alloys - plain
Later - have a "10" engraved ona spoke and have the ilkkle 'oles in between the nut 'oles.
Latest - no ikkle 'oles but still have the "10".
