hi all just wondered if any of you have had any problems with the allisport uprated intercoolers? i have had one on my TD5 for arround 6 mnths and i have discovered that the welds that go down the side of the thing have a great big split in it! it didnt even fit very well when fitted> in my opinion its a load of expensive, shoddy pap and it will removed from my vehicle and installed in a nice big skip! any thoughts?????

Make a list of all the 4x4 magazines you can find.

Phone Alisport up and Complain.

If they don't treat that seriously rattle off your list of 4x4 magazines you are going to send a letter to saying their product fell to bits and looked like shoddy kit.

Don't threaten them, mind. Just tell them what you intend to do as a public service to other potential victims of their poor quality kit.

or maybe someone else could email Alisport saying they were going to buy one but read something bad about them on interweb (and send em a link to this thread) - if ya ring em a day later you might get slightly different treatment

why dont u get on the phone to Alisport if its only 6months old? if u take it off what are u going to do 4 a intercooler install the orignal?

or u really still dont want it give it to me :p lol

thanks for the advice, i will try and upload a pic of failed weld. i would put the original one back on but that is also broken as i hit a roe doe at some speed and it did it no favours. (hence the replacement allisport ic.) i have spoken to them today and they have offered to re weld the intercooler at cost. time to fit a nice twisted performance unit instead i think.

thanks all.

No way .....

Time to get tough .... their unit was not fit for purpose.

They replace it or repair it at no cost to you or else ....

just had the new twisted performance intercooler fitted with the hose kit, fits like a glove. seems to be a bit slower through the rev range now but the clouds of smoke have gone, and it does seem to "pul" in a more controlled fashion.

i am happy with it, just have to wait a few days for the new 60hp chip to come.

had the Twisted uprated intercooler and pipes fitted, it fits perfectly in place and bolts to the radiator just the the original should. very good piece of kit, alittle bit smaller than the allisport one but because the radiator is exposed as standard (the alli blocked it off completely) the engine temp has gone down a bit. 10/10 for twisted.

i think it only fair that you give it 6 months of use before you proclaim that it's the best thing since sliced bread, after all that's how long yer allisport lasted and i bet you'd have said good things about that as well shortly after it was installed

We are always happy to hear of any feedback, good or bad so we can improve our manufacturing proceedure. If people don't tell us of a problem, we cannot help to fix it. Weld breakage is a very unusual problem and I would like to investigate if possible.

Hello all

I've had a large Allisport intercooler fitted to my 300tdi defender for almost 3 years and haven't had any problems at all.
It looks very well made indeed, and has been removed and installed numerous times to clean out mud from the radiator etc.

Hope you get yours sorted.
Must be very frustrating.

well done for commenting andy, but i hope its just a coincidence that a new member posted praise of your product half an hour after you found this thread!

im planning on gettin an upgraded intercooler for my retrofitted disco 200 tdi into 90 (i havnt actually put the engine in yet, its in the pipeline!). how much do you charge for it, and roughly what is the power/torque increase? Do you tweak the fuel pump and turbo as well?

Hi Chris, I must say I was pleasantly surprised to see a post in praise of my products. As I have said in the past, I take my business personally (too much so if you ask my wife...) and I want the products to sell themselves as I am not a bull**** salesman.
We manufacture two intercooler upgrades suitable for your conversion - one is a direct replacement, not simply a re-core, but a totally new cooler making better use of the space available. The other is the full front mount which gives better cooling again. It is simply a case of the bigger the better with intercoolers - the more surface area to cool the better and hence more oxygen rich dense air. We always carry out tests on cars before installation and set up the fuel and boost once the cooler is fitted. The replacement option is £285+vat and the front mount is £350+vat with free fitting. We do offer VAT free deals at shows however. We have had customers take their cars to independant rolling roads and have achieved at least the figures we quote or more. We quote 111 std, 135 with opt 1 and 145-150 with opt 2. Hope this helps!

No you do not.
That is illegal if you are a VAT registered business.

You may offer all sorts of discounts, but you can NOT legally avoid the CUSTOMER paying the VAT at 17½%. No matter what amount the customer pays, that total amount MUST BY LAW include 17½% VAT, and if you issue an invoice which you are required to do, that MUST show enough information that allows the customer to know the amount of the bill and the amount of VAT he is paying.

Snake oil sales techniques do not go down well in this forum.

Ask Riggaz about that.
