i have just got hold of the full mod service manual for all 12 and 24 volt landys and variants it has all the onfo anyone would need ,all wiring diagrams, military accessories etc ,even down to how to destroy the vehicle should you be in danger of being captured ! so if anyone needs any info will be glad to look it up for you.

as it happens...yes it does!it recomends smashing the carb, all switches wheels etc then shooting at it with preferably a tank ie a self propelled gun let me quote: and i kid you not.
GUNFIRE
remove and empty the portable fire extinguishers.
smash all vital components such as carburetter, distributor, spark plugs.light switches, instruments and control levers. Destroy the radio equipment by smashing with a heavy implement!
fire on the vehicle aiming at the road wheels engine compartment and transmission

I thought this was about ex MOD series landrovers when I saw the title. But surely the above section is an extract from a gaylander service manual..

That seems a bit longwinded to me all that smashing when ya armed wiv guns and grown up bangers!! :violent:

make you right it is long winded , but it makes a change from the bloody haynes manual telling me to do the revers of stripping something ! its a good read on one page its telling you to makesure all fluids are correct the next its telling you the best way to blow it up! but its got wiring diagrams which for a military owner is a god send

Surely redhand, if it was a freelander service manual it would simply say drive through a small puddle, sit back and watch for the doors to fall off?

Presumable the idea is not only to mobilise it, but ensure there are cannibalisable bits on it.

the manual i have reads the same "how to destroy it " but states no parts should be left that could be used as a roadside repair, no fuel to be left it , no ignition system , fuses, radiator or batterys, spares .
prefers to smash engine block and head with gun fiire before setting fire to it  the book is bout 30 years old mind.

hello mate no idea how old mine is its about the size of an old exercise book you used to get at school with ring bound pages it sounds like mine does not go into as much detail as yours basicly mine just says smash evrything and if its going to be burned open doors and windows to facilitate air flow and douse in petrol and oil, preferably it says to use a flame thrower !

have to say e bay is very good my military lights were on the verge of falling out due to knackered adjusters and was finding it a pain trying to get a replacement but found some lucas ones on e bay werent sure if they would fit but bought them anyway and they were perfect just drilled out old rivets and they whent straight in, was well pleased what do you prefer .. a series or your 90 ?

im driving a series 3 109, with a rag top( pic is on profile) it was originally a 24 volt found in auto trader bloke had 20 of them , i was going to turn it down owing to parts availability but he converted to 12 and the deal was done , at first i was not sure whether i should have bought it but its grown on me now and i wouldnt get rid of it , but i was thinking of getting a 110 mili hence the reason i asked, what with it being derv and surely it must be more comfortable the springs on my 3 are rock hard , i love driving it and i go to most of the shows hence long miles and its thirsty, of course it could be converted but it would lose its originality how is your 2 a coming along , a mate of mine has an x raf one

yeah , the 24 volts are ok if yer got a shed full of bits for them ! the 109 are ok round town etc but long miles they are thirsty , stick a 200 lump in then they wil give you better economy , but as yer say yer loose the originality , then again my 90 2.5na is thirsty on long runs but its what yer get, pay the price for luxury as they say , tis a better ride in a 90 than that of the series , but not much once you get used to it, if your going fer a 110 X MIL, go for a later tdi version
hows the rag top standing up ? had to put an alloy ifor williams hard top on mine as the rag top were shagged, they int cheap either !

well yes my original rag top was shagged but by a strange twist of feight last year, just stopped off at the garage at the billing show just about to get going and some bloke pulled up and asked if i wanted to buy one , knowing how much they are and having spent most of my money over the weekend i said no but he said to take a look ...well it was still in the polythene and he wanted £45.00 for it , not a mark on it so dont know how but managed to find the dosh hidden in various pockets and jackets stashed over the weekend and weighed him out ,so was well pleased, are you doing any shows this year or is it not your thing ? im not an anorack by any means but i know a few of the regulars on the show circuits and its nice to get away camping for a few days and have a beer or 2 , in perspective its probably 70% break 30% landy show

yer jammy git, £45.
might not get chance this year to go anywhere as trying to get work back up and running again as got me own business and the building trades quiet , but then again it does give me the time off ;) so might get chance eyr never kno,
like yer say its more of a break than anything else.
