I have 2 cars on lpg. The P38 and a volvo v70.
The volvo was running rough so took it to my mate in Huntingdon (LPG Centre) who sorted it out for me. The rangie was also slightly rough so I did the same work on it and now its sweet as a nut.
The gas injectors are the same on both cars so easy repair , but I'm 100% sure its true of all gas injectors with the solenoids on the outside.
Syptoms are a hammering injector or injectors with rough running.
First change the filters. The cold weather has caused the gas to liquify at the injectors when changing over from petrol and as a result the o rings in the injectors get fooched.
Take the solenoid off the injector. Several ways its connected, but then they slide off the injector body. Get a spanner and screw the injector body off the gas rail, be careful there is a slider shaft in the body with a small spring. If its black oily then they need a good clean. At the top of the slider shaft is a small o ring. This is the culprit . These are £1.50 each and are small so be careful not to drop it when putting in a new one. Clean all and replace. Repeat for all injectors.
You wont believe how smooth and quit the lpg is. It runs so much better as well.
You can also get new sliders with O ring and spring for £5 to £10 each.
A barstool up north charged me £400 for a set of new injectors when all it needed was new O rings. To say I wont be going back there, but i'm sure I'm not the only one. Need very few tools, but its a job that I think should be done yearly to ensure all is sealed and slides nicely in the injector. I used a WD40 to clean and lubricate. Jobs as good un. Give it a go its easy and takes very few tools.
