Has anyone striped back their landy and left her alloy for the finish?
Was wondering if it'd look great or unfinished! Plus would I have to put a clear lacker on to stop too much corrosion?

Cheers all

Great thanks. Assuming there isn't any law for having a mirror type finish! Was just thinking of the sun bouncing off and blinding other drivers. May have a go on a panel on wknd

this requires days of work. probably sanded through about 10 different grits. not to mention polishing

Yeah and that's assuming all your panels are good once you remove the paint, be surprised if the bottoms of doors etc haven't started to blister even on a newish fender

Think I'll give it a try. Not too bothered if not perfect, still want it to look 40 years old and I like the matt alloy grey thinking on it, rather than the shiny polished version. I'll pop some pics on once I've done a portion

Would it not be more vulnerable to the catholic corrosion - areas where door hinges meet panels, cappings, fixings etc. the paint must provide some protection against this where dissimilar metals meet. Front panel and bulkhead would need to be painted silver I guess. Would look nice though!

the clear coat would protect it like paint.

personally, once you strip it back i think you'll find filler, dents, rust and all sorts of crap that's been hidden. Then you'll come to the steel bit and find welds and allsorts :D

good luck though, i'd love it
