So I found out today that half my rear heated screen doesn't work so as its a bit rusty around the edges I wondered about replacing it with an ali one.
Prices seem to vary so any suggestions for the best deal?

I assume all will be suitable to swop locks on and for central locking?
 
Have you got glass cover. My old classic got a broken rear tailgate window. The frame was so knackered the whole lot had to be replaced. Just cost me the glass excess ;)
 
and yer hike insurance for the next few years, not affecting yer no claimes is just a scam!

I have an ally one on my 1990 classic and its a bit bendy but no rust!

I would go second hand as they are silly money new
 
Both my classics have ally upper tailgates. And everyone I know that has them all said they bend. You either have to slam them or pressed the corners down to lock them.
And yes you can swap the lock and latches over.
Be warned though. The latch mounting bolts may be seized in. Used a large pozi screw driver (or an impact driver). Also the bolts holding the handle on are not very long inside the handle so be careful when tightening them up.

A good method to use, even on the genuine steel ones. I never slam mine.
