i have a p38.i have a problem with the alarm, when you press the remote to unlock the car,the indicator,s do not flash, nor do the interior light,s come on.any help would be great.

i think there are settings in the becm that change the behaviour of lights and beeps etc but this would have always been the case not just suddenly happened and you would need rovacom or faultmate system to change them

Hi

I have a different alarm problem with an intermittent alarm fault. The good news is I have traced it to the offside front window that closes on a slight slant meaning that the security system cannot confirm that all windows and doors are closed and so get alarm fault.

Is there a cheap fix for the window sensor as the window doesn't let any rain in or wind so I am happy as it is?

If the window is wound down, and back up (assisted by hand as will not go on its own) on flat land or nose down the fault disappears until the window is wound down again.

Do I have to fix the window?

Cheers

Adam

you can get some lubricant for the rubber that the glass slides in also check said rubber cos i think they are prone to slipping and just need relocating!

Thanks Gav

got some PTFE lubricant on recommendation from this forum (sorry to whoever that was it was a long time ago!) but even with this it sticks in the channels and cannot rise past a certain point without sticking unless manual effort is supplied. It is difficult once past this point to align it properly. I think the years of previous degradation have given leaway in the shelf underneath the window allowing it to cant forward.

on mine the mechanism is basically sprained and this causes the window to tilt and do the same, maybe its time for a new one!!!

If only

Just paying for a full service (first one in my possession full oils drain and replace) so replacement is going to have to be down the line. If I knew where the sensor was I could fool it into thinking the window was fully closed even if it was slightly canted.

If the regulator is not damaged unspraining the mechanism could help?!?!

possibly but in my case it tried to destroy the door every time i fiddled with it!!

the way i got around it was to have someone(my 4 yrold daughter) operate the switch while i pulled the glass in to position and theped it close with my palms, took a few goes, can't expect much from a ked, but got there eventually and then used the sunroof when having a fag(drivers door also needs fixing)
