Hey guys,

Hoping you can help. My 2013 Puma 110 is having some odd issues recently - when starting, the alarm starts going off, but then it still starts? Until the other day, when it wouldn't start at all but the alarm was still going off.
I've tried both keys, does the same thing. I charged the battery up over the weekend, seemed fine, and then today same alarm going off but still starting.
I'm assuming battery or alternator are likely culprits here, and the alarm is a symptom of low power? Any ideas how to diagnose one or the other for sure? I've whacked it back on charge for now.

Cheers,
Stephen

It does seem like a battery problem. After recharging, leave it for 24 hours then check the voltage in the battery with a multi meter. You'll probably find it is low. Anything under 12.5 volts is low. But a Puma will start even when the battery is as low as approx 12 volts but the alarm will sound.

Thanks - will try and give that a go! Any recommendations for a decent battery should that be the issue?

The original on mine was a Varta, 90AH 800CCA. I replaced it at approx 5 yrs old with a Varta 95AH 800CCA. Some suppliers websites give a much lower AH and CCA as the "correct" battery for the vehicle but I reckon they are wrong . The more AH and CCA you can get the better. If you need to replace, make sure the terminal posts are in the same place as the old one otherwise the leads won't fit.
