Just a quick query. I only got one key fob with the vehicle. I have now bought a spare one. When I go through the programming sequence, holding down the bonnet switch and locking / unlocking etc. When I get to the part when you press the button on the key fob to program it in do I need to do both key fobs or just the new one? Hope that makes sense.

Both, when you put the security ECU into learn mode it will clear whatever handsets it was programmed to and learn whatever handsets are presented to it.

Where did you get the key. Is it the one with the buttons in the key or a seperate fob. just interested in how much one will cost me,

I got it from e-bay. It's a separate fob with two buttons. E-bay shop called Auto Parts Revisited. He lists fobs for loads of different vehicles. Mine cost me £13.99 plus £2.50 p+p. I think most are refurbished but it came in a little bag with a landrover genuine parts label on it and looks shiny and unused. If it works then I don't care if its refurbished or not for that price.

The one I got was for my 300tdi disco 1 but I would have thought that you could program the fob from one disco 2 to another disco 2. I'm not an expert though, hence the question I posted on here. I'm sure there are loads of people on here who could give you a more definative answer.

As I understand it Disco 2 key fobs have to be programmed by main dealer/testbook - I've tried everywhere to get a spare one as I only got one key with mine - £80 for key & £90 to programme it !

If anyone know different please let me know cos there's no way I'm paying £170 for a spare key!

my 6 year old son got hold hold of my disco2 key and put it in the father-in-law's garage door and lifted it up and bent the end of the key luckley the wife had the spair key in her handbag.i thought bollocks this was at about 7pm on a sunday this is going to cost me megabucks. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=8714&ppuser=11039 On monday morning i went to my local land rover specilist to find out how much it was going to cost me for a new key.He said £120+programing but because it's a disco2 the key part pulls out of the fob.i will do you a blank key and fob - the innards for £10. then all i had to do was put my innards in the new fob and get the key cut and that cost me a pound .
