Afternoon,

Was playing around with my Disco alarm the other day - still in the process of welding it up so it's not on the road yet.

It's got the standard LR CATS system with the autotec (?) black key fob immobilisers. Couple questions really as I got no docs or other info with the car,

1) Where is the control box for the immob normally placed? I need to get the 4 digit code off it so I can get a spare fob ordered. Or can I just send the VIN off to landrover to order a new one? I have one but I lose stuff once in a while!

2) I deliberately set the alarm off to test it (it's not remote but armed off the key) and the indicators flash, the dash makes the usual ticking noise from alarms but there is no siren/horn. Does it use the vehicle horn or is there another unit?

None of this stuff is terribly important right now but any information would be useful.

Cheers for the info, will have a poke around at the weekend see if I can find the control box. Either the horn isn't working or somethings not connected to the alarm control then - can't see a secondary sounder under the hood.

Found the AMR 2106 box in the fuse panel - seems mine had remote central locking and alarm at some point. Really confused about what may have gone wrong. And can I buy a blank remote fob and program myself or does it have to be sent off with the box? Found a site that'll do it but they want £70 for one fob and the box sending to them....

Will the fact that I lock it off the key not a fob be why the alarm siren doesn't sound? I tested the horn(s) an it works.
Still haven't had time to look for the immob ecu yet - the cab is full of carpets and trim panels...and half the front of the disco, there's not really much room in there at the mo to take the dash panels out!
