Hi I’m looking at installing an Alarm in my defender Td5. The vehicle has central locking but I don’t have the key fob.
I’m looking for an alarm with an immobilizer and that will operate the central locking
Can anyone advise on the best type to install?

If you want a good reliable alarm go with a Toad Ai606. Thatcham cat1 approved, will do central locking, 2 circuit immobiliser and comes with lifetime warrenty.

(I know, thread necrophilia, but its better than starting a new one about the same topic)

I'm also looking for a Thatcham 1 alarm/immobiliser combo for a base model 2002 TD5 hardtop.

That Toad Ai606 seems a good deal (under £100 at some online stockists). Does anyone else have experience with this alarm or any other recommendations?

I've got a pedal box and Disklok already - wanting to take it to another level! Was also considering wiring in a seperate key operated battery isolator (i.e. http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/battconns/photo/60520.jpg) but I suppose that this would most likely be redundant with the Toad immobiliser installed, wouldn't it?

I have a Toad alarm and immobiliser on a Saab Classic convertible and it is way better than the factory fitted alarm on my 2002 Defender. I had it professionally installed 10 years ago and haven`t had any trouble at all with it, whereas the Defender alarm remote control is fairly temperamental, as is the central locking. I would definitely have a good look at another Toad alarm if I was replacing the alarm on my Defender.
