Hi,

I just changed a blend motor and had it re gassed.

Aircon seems to work but not as cold as I expected. It does change as you go up and down the temp range but not as much as expected.

Is there some way to calibrate it so that it gets colder or is there likely to be another problem?

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks,

Never touched the compressor - how can I test if itis working properly.

Steve

If it's getting cold, the compressor must be working, are the air con pipes hot for the small diameter one and cold for the large diameter one?

Could be the blend motor is blending hot air in if it is not moving properly.

The P38's Achillies Heel..or one of them!!!!!!
Have Climate Control on Er Indoors Vectra and not a problem. No reference to Blend Motors on the Vectra forum either!!

I am sure that one problem with them is that they are left in one position most of the time and the heater box is as big as my shed with blend flaps to match.

Thanks,

Checked the pipes and one is cold and the other is hot as you suggested. It seems to be a little cooler now, although I havent actually done anything!

They have not been calibrated - should they.

I have a Faultmte now - any tips on this calibration?

Cheers,
Steve

Gemsdad - surely the calibration process, assuming there is one, can not be any harder than fitting the damned blend motor in the first place!!!

I used the method without removing the dash - definitely quicker but definitely not easy!!!

Irish - heeeeeelp

what do you mean, assuming there is one,you wont get far unless you do calibrate the air distribution motor at least, ask nicely and i might tell you how to do it.:D:D:D;)

Do you have the Valeo HEVAC software Steve..module SM027??....If you have, plug it into the OBDII, select Valeo HEVAC, switch the ignition on, engine not running...look down the menu and you will see "Other". The page gives the option to force all of the blower motors etc. one by one. Look at the top of the page and you will see a "Bar" titled "Calibrate Blend Flaps", click on that and it will do the calibration procedure.

Jumped the gun...when you are hooked up, read the faults first and then clear them before going to "Other"
Any problems...send me a PM with contact details and I will talk you through it.

Thanks Irish,

Very much appreciated, you don't half add value to this forum...

I do have that software module and can't wait to give it a try, although it will have to wait till tomorrow.

Cheers,
Steve.

Hi Irish,

I have followed your advice, cleared the fault codes and run the calibrate routine - went OK and there are no fault codes now.

No obvious improvement in cooling (its still cool but could never be described as ICE cool.

Will get a better idea tomorrow when I go for a run.

What else could impact on performance?

Cheers,
Steve

Did you check/replace the pollen filters? Is there more airflow through the vents in recirc. mode?..if so the pollen filters may be blocked. Run the aircon on "LO" in recirc mode this will give maximum cooling as you will not be drawing in ambient air, just cooling the air in the cabin. Check the air temp. at the vents, is it blowing cold air there?
Remember that the cabin is not a domestic freezer and the aircon can only chill to a level relative to the outside temp. At a guess, if the outside ambient temperature was say 30deg., I would be happy if the temperature inside on "LO" was around 14-16deg.
When you had the system gassed up, did they put the correct amount of gas in? 1250g +/-25g as too much gas can have the same effect as too little.
Don't remember if I mentioned it, but is the airway through the condenser clean? if it's supect, remove the grille and blast it through with a pressure washer (Karcher or garage jet wash).
You will find a difference on the move as air is being forced through the condenser rather than just being drawn in by the engine cooling fan.:behindsofa:
