Disco 2 Aircon compressor parts

MIne has self destructed in the clutch area.

What does it consist of please?

Mine had fallen off and jammed my steering column

Not a lot, much the same as most a/c compressors, a plate, bearing and an electromagnetic coil. Bearings do fail I believe.

Has the actual clutch fallen off or "just" the pulley ?
I had the small pulley retaining bolt undo itself & cause the pulley to fall off & cut a nasty circle into the rad.
The various impacts had damaged the pulley beyond use, but a second hand replacement pulley fitted & functioned fine - after replacing the rad.
I bought the pulley (with the rest of the compressor) for £30 from a Land Rover breaker.

MJI, my description was incorrect (too many D2 repairs to remember correctly after so long - lol).
It was the the clutch plate that separated from the pulley after the bolt came undone & was replaced by a s.h. plate from another compressor.

The Denso air con compressor is used on many different vehicle.

I have a slightly mangled one of those. no bolt and no idea what other parts were involved

On ours, there's only the clutchplate & retaining bolt (m6 I think), but the important thing is that there is also a washer inside the clutch plate nose - effectively a spacer between the clutch plate & shaft. The washer disappeared on ours when the clutch plate fell off.
On the s.h. compressor I bought, I initially didn't realise there was a washer because it was semi stuck inside the clutch plate nose by a bit of grease. It was only looking at some youtube videos I noticed there was one.
As long as you know to check it's there, replacement of the clutchplate, washer & bolt is easy (saving a lot of work needed to replace & re-gas a complete compressor)

No spring seen?

I recovered the washer from the shaft and the mangling is the non clutch side

Just need to check all my spare bolts for a suitable one

No spring in the set-up.
If the clutch plate working side is ok, you may be able to just re-assemble.
I'd just make a judgement if the damage on the outside face is enough to effect balance of the plate significantly - ie shake the compressor bearings excessively.
I'd also suggest loctite on the bolt thread.

I will try it at the weekend.
