Air Suspension Issueeeeeeeeeeee

Hello All, I'm a new boy, not just to landyzone but also this chat forum malarky..... any way to the crunch. I have a 99 Disco TD5 ES with the airsuspension, ACE etc and until early December 06 all was relatively good with the girl. I had recently had car into a reputable non franchised garage and had had exhaust manifold gasket replaced and then gearbox (auto) oil replaced (incidently went like a bomb after that!) Anyway a couple of weeks later I noticed the rear drivers side looking a little low. Thought it was the old eyes...... then she started to settle on rear drivers side down to the end stops - unusually though, it was an intermittent thing with up to a couple of days off and then back to regular over night. Thought it might have been outside temp dependant util today when it dropped in side 3 hours. Anybody give us a clue. Intermittent seems to eliminate air sac... no expert but do have a practical background so willing to tackle with help from forum....thanks Shauny Mc confooosed of Norfolk

You have an air leak.

More than likely a porous air spring, put the vehicle in off road mode, then spray soapy water onto the air spring and watch for bubbles.

The reason it's intermittant is because at the bottom of the spring, the rubber folds over itself making a seal, if you park on a slight slope, the spring will stretch and the leaky part will be exposed.

Is it difficult to change the air spring on the on the flat with standard tool kit.
Now leaking with more regularity..............time for a new 'un. Fancy tackling this myself.

i've got a leak on the rear drivers side of my 2000 td5 - a guy on this forum reckons it;s dead easy to do but i'm not sure how to get at the bags!

no mate,no joy yet on 'How to change a rear air spring'. That said i've been living with it for a while now and it's time to get something done!!! Getting the air spring seems straight forward enough - there appears to be plenty of suppliers on t'interweb and costs £80-90 each.
