FYi, I found this today.

When I went to reverse my car up my drive I have to use the raised setting on the suspension , I do not normally park on the drive but today due to council verge work it was easier. On pressing the raise height button to my surprise nothing happened.

I checked the car by turning the ignition off and when I turned it on to self check I had no SLS warning lights. When I plugged the nanocom in, it was showing coils. Bizarre, but it may have been like that when I was playing with it a while ago after I changed the airbags ( must write down what I change on the nanocom in future and check my fat digits have not changed anything strange..LOL).

Engaged the SLS in the menus and I suddenly have the warning lights on the dash. BUT I have NO faults showing on the nanocom, can hear the compressor running, I checked the heights using a tape measure and the drivers side was alittle lower, the delta between the LH and RH side was approx 40mm. ( nanocom was showing 132 and 157, I dropped the whole system to the stops. I have a joiner in the pipes so unplugged and checked the compressor is pumping. and raised again with target heights set of 150 in the nanocom.

A slight difference between LH and RH sides of approx 10mm, lowered the higher side to achieve the measured height of 480mm LH and RH, warning lights now dosappeared.

Cheers

Nanocom shows both sides to be different, but its showing 0 volts so a fault somewhere with sensor/wire. Anyway need to use Discovery on monday so going to look again after trip to town. Thanks Richard.

Just been to check and it has gone down about 15mm, started up to turn it round and suspension went down, I think I must have done something wrong when setting it to coils as it stayed up last night when set to air.Is it just a case of changing the setting from air to coil, or should I have done something else?. Thanks Richard.I think this Nanocom is great but when you are unsure how to do things it gets a bit confusing.

If you want to separate the bags from the control / compressor side, then I would suggest fitting a pair of these.
To be found on the bay of flea.

I have a set just in case of an emergency.

Even after reading through this thread, I'm unsure whether or not you have actually replaced the air bags yet?

Or whether you're trying to analyse the problem without changing them.
It sounds as if you're trying to convince yourself to change the system to coils.
As I said in my first post, "First rule of deciding the cause of air suspension failure .... Don't try to over-analyse the fault, it'll only make your brain hurt.
Second rule of deciding the cause of air suspension failure .... Change the air bags before you go any further. About 140-160 quid a pair. Always change them as a pair."
Suspension air bags can have a few different failure modes, they can become porous or develop pin holes which let them down over a number of days. They can start to crack in the folds which can cause them to stay up for weeks but as soon as you move to different ground they can collapse almost immediately but then tomorrow they can stay up again. Then there's the failure which nobody wants to contemplate, they just go bang, a very loud bang, and that is rather obvious. Less usual are leaks in the pipework or faults in the compressor/valve unit, but before you can start diagnosing faults there, you'd be well advised to ensure that the air bags are fully serviceable.

I live in Orkney it takes time for parcels to reach us, 3 to 4 days more than usual, I need to go to the main Island on monday, as fery sugested I set suspension to coils with Nanocom to allow me to travell 10 miles. I do not want or intend to change to coils.2 new bags and 2 new height sensors ordered, so I am not trying to cut corners. I obviousley need to confirm to the Nanocom that I have changed to coils because when I dissconect I hear a click and the suspension drops a bit maybe 25mm, but not all the way down, vehicle not been moved for 7 days. Sorry to be a pain but due to where I live I really need this diagnostic device, and help trying to use it, otherwise I would have to trailer the vehicle to a dealer on another Island, at great cost. Thanks Richard.

Another thing you can try , may already have been mentioned, is that the sensors are the same for LH and RH, you could try swapping them from one side to the other and see if the fault moves across or not.

Cheers

I have found one of the connecting rubers on the link to the faulty sensor is broken, but it still moves as it should, it goes down level so I dont think it is sided.

Probably did not make myself clear, when the suspension goes down ,it goes down evenly on both sides.it has never gone down on just one side.

Found out how to save setting from air to coils on Nanocom forum, been for a drive and its stayed up.Looking through settings and noticed the right sensor that has shown 0 volts all the time now shows 4.87 volts.
