Hi, went to move Discovery yesterday and the rear was on the bump stops, it was very windy here tuesday, could that have caused the suspension to keep leveling? and drop ,or does it only change when ignition is on?. Got it to rise today by pressing off road hight switch, it then levelled itself out, went for a run and it dropped again, and it will not go up. Whe pressing the off road switch now 3 chimes sound, all doors shut and each one triggers the interior lights when opened, I hope that means no connection problems to door switches. Power at relay terminal and fuse ok, comp not running it would seem to me to be a signaling problem, but where?. Thanks.

First rule of deciding the cause of air suspension failure .... Don't try to over-analyse the fault, it'll only make your brain hurt.
Second rule of deciding the cause of air suspension failure .... Change the air bags before you go any further. About 140-160 quid a pair. Always change them as a pair.
Third rule of deciding the cause of air suspension failure .... Get to know how the system works and where the weak points in a generally good system might be:-

I might invest in the air bags to see if they are the problem, but that does not explain why the compressor is not running.

If it's a bag leak present the compressor might have overworked to compensate for the leak as to keep the vehicle on level and if a "compressor duty cycle exceeded" fault code was logged it will not run again untill the fault is cleared...it's conceived so to not let the compressor to burn out due to a leak cos if that fault code is logged it's obvious that the system is loosing air somewhere .... find somebody with dedicated tester to read the fault code

As @sierrafery has said, there is the possibility that a compressor duty cycle exceeded fault was logged and that has locked out the compressor until the fault code is cleared.
Another possibility is that the suspension has dropped below the point where it will automatically re-inflate, in which case you'll have to lift the rear of the body with a jack under the tow hitch to start it re-inflating.
Obviously the reason why the suspension has dropped in the first place must be addressed. I can assure you that windy weather has nothing to do with the vehicle's suspension

I mentioned the wind situation as I thought the P38 did keep levelling if one side dropped. Anyway I have a Nanocom, but never used it yet, to be honest I am not sure how to use it.

Fit new bags, reset any fault codes (DO NOT RECONFIGURE), jack up a bit and see what happens

Ok, so got Nanocom conected, no faults shown, turned compressor on and it cycled on and off I presume thats correct. Vehicle did not rise , jacked it up a bit still did not rise. Not got new bags yet, delivery takes a while to here. I noticed a difference in actual height settings of the height sensors. Dont forget I am new to this Nanocom stuff so may not have tested what I should have. Thanks Richard.

As @MJI has already said, do NOT reconfigure anything until you get the vehicle sitting right again. Nor should you disconnect the ride height sensor either.
When you do finally fit the new air bags, you might have to jack the back end of the car body to start the suspension re-inflating. Once it has inflated, take it for a cautious run out then examine the stance after that.

As I stated I lifted the body up ,but it never went up, the compressor does not run so it cant go up. I did not adjust anything just powered the comp from Nanocom.I cant see how new bags when they arrive will sort the comp not running, I suppose both ride height sensors could have packed up, before this the suspension stayed up for weeks. Thanks Richard.

only activating the compressor will not make it rise cos it's a simple circuit test for it and the air supply valves are closed, you can try in "Utility" to raise each side, if you get a misslock warning by any chance the SLS will rest cos it doesnt work if the system gets a "door open" input

Thanks for that, got it to go up in utility, took a while but got there, I have found the right sensor shows 5volts and the left 0 volts. Is that my problem?, be interesting to see if still up in the morning. Yellow fault light still on.

Brian47, will check in the morning, doors were closed, I am sure It was running when jacking. Thanks Richard.

.
if the yellow light is on you should have a fault code stored too, if the sensor shows 0 it's probably that or it's plug, raise it with nanocom to visualy even levels then go in settings and set it to coils, if no leaks are present it will stay so for weeks cos the bags are "sealed" then and you can drive it untill you fix it

Well the bags are still inflated today, allthough a bit high, went in to settings to lower a bit. Then got called away for 10 mins and it was down again, I think I heard a click as I walked away, so could the problem be a solenoid sticking?. Raised it again and put it into coils setting. New bags and sensors ordered, will fit when time allows. Went into faults log in SLABS, is that right?, and still no fault showing. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place?. Thanks for input, Richard.
