got the missus a disco 2
air suspension done plenty reading on it before i decided to ask
took of compressor easy enough, tested that and all solenoids, all working direct from battery , put it all back
nothing changed the 30 amp fuse and the relay, still nothing
right now sitting on bump stops , but before one side was looking like it would go pop it was that high while the other seemed about normal height
so only thing i can think of is the height sensors on the rear , unless anyone has any other ideas, dont make sense why the compressor works on the battery alone but not the car, gonna check the live to the compressor in a bit once mate comes round with his multimeter

It is handy to have a diagnostic unit. With the lynx that I have it will work the actuator to run the compressor to raise or lower either side, and give readings ooff the height sensors. They also can set the calibration. I take it you have tried jacking up the back end?

If the compressor runs for too long it will alarm out and will need to be reset by a diagnostic unit. As far as I understand it.

You can try to see if swapping the sensors from one side to the other will switch the problem from one side to the other.

Make sure to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the sensors.

Cheers

The SLS needs all the doors to be closed and the ignition switch in the run position (position II) before it will operate.
The jacking trick is to bring the outputs from the ride height sensors back into the normal running range, so as @brianconwy has already suggested, try jacking the body of the vehicle from under the towbar.
If the ride height sensors have been disconnected without disconnecting the battery there is a fair risk that you'll need to recalibrate the system.

so im assuming, seeing i pulled the compressor out you need some one with a diag system ,mobile , to come round and reset the system,
never jacked it up would this make a difference ,will order 2 rear height sensors tomorrow and change them over
just got to go find some one to do the diag, my obd2 stuff dont look at the disco or my defender

just read above post, will go get my jack out

As I said, jacking the back end should bring the electrical output signals from the ride height sensors back into their working range. If the suspension has dropped too far then the SLABS ECU can lock the system.
Having just pulled the compressor unit and so far nothing else, there shouldn't be a need to recalibrate the system.
When you do replace the ride height sensors, do make sure that you disconnect the battery to reduce the risk of having to recalibrate the system.
The only other advice I can offer regarding the Self Levelling Suspension is "When you've convinced yourself that the fault is nothing to do with the air bags, it'll be the air bags". Remember they're nothing more than a rubber tube full of compressed air .... ring any bells?

air bags were uneven one looked like it was ready to pop on the nearside, driver side looked ok and near level, system wasn't letting the bags down so undone the pipe
on the compressor to let it down, once down started the engine up again, and compressor wouldn't kick in took it out check solinoids and the compressor straight from battery all three solenoids seemed to work and compressor fired up,
as yet the only thing i have not changed or messed with is the ride height sensors although im thinking of doing these and the bags
sensors are 20 quid each so will do these and if the system kicks in will do the bags
other than that in stuck dont have a diag system to plug in and reset and a hawkeye at 300 quid is ott at the min, so it will go on springs if i cant figure it out
jacking it up didn't do anything , thinking now its a system reset

re read your post, might be i have let the system down to far and been locked out bags were totally deflated and its sitting on the bump stops

took battery off for min see if letting it sit over night dead might reset the slabs,
looking at your ebay link, i can see how it would work and i suppose he gives you the psi to pump the bags up to,
cheers may be a solution to get to some one to reset the ecu if the battery out dont work

And yet another option, is to look at the LandyZone International rescue map and see if anyone on there is local to you , however the map may not be up to date.

Or join one of the Discovery 2 face ache pages and see if anyone local has diagnostic unit.

Cheers

No, He did not send any info like that in the pack I got, however I suppose if you call him he may have the info.

I pumped mine until they went to the std height of 473mm from wheel ctr to underneath of wheel arch.

Cheers

found a guy on ebay hire his nanocom for a week for 40 quid may have to do that might save a lot of hassle
cheers for the info lads much appreciated

no answer from the fella so bit the bullet and ordered a nanaocom for defender td5 and disco 2, 390 quid, be here friday or so they say in the mean time got the air kit off ebay

yea i paid for the extra codes, no point buying it and cant use it on the defender td5, but can on the disco,
air kit worked a treat btw, good shout that, i would suggest anyone with air get one and leave it in the glove box

Nice,

Glad it worked, I have one as a GOOTS glove box kit. Did you work out what PSI was needed to got to the height required?

Cheers

around 4 psi, will stick a pressure gauge on at the weekend and let you know getting it to 437 mm is a pain in the arse if your not sitting dead level though, ended up going up the shell garage and doing it on the forecourt ,, just read its 473 , im a numb nuts gonna get the foot pump out again ,lol
