My car is much warmer now after the thermostat switch over but I am just thinking that possibly a cold air flap is jammed open. Is this possible? Any thoughts on this welcome.

did you fill and bleed the system as in the book? tank raised etc?..the heater matrix is very prone to air lock if the system is not filled and bled properly

All done. I am still massaging pipes etc and it has improved a hell of a lot but I am thinking that there may be some sort of outside air flap that is open but where to find it and how does it work.

there are servo motors that open and close the air flaps, they are located in the heater unit,it will be hidden behind the centre console, under the dash.
