Air leaks - help!

Hi Guys,

I've found some leaks on the connectors to the EAS box.

I've got some new connectors, but am having a bit of trouble working out how to fit them. In the picture, I can't see how to get to the pipes on the inside of the box (circled in red) to hold them sufficiently to get the new connectors on.

Do I need to dismantle the whole box to get to them? I'm guessing the answer is going to be yes.

It seems that the leaks are just on the connections to the pipes going to the airbags - I've disconnected these and reassembled them but they're still leaking. The pipes are a bit scratched and scuffed unfortunately.

What do you reckon are the chances of getting away with just trimming the affected pipes (ie not replace the connectors)? Will that probably fix the problem, or is it more likely that the o rings inside the connector are knackered? They're leaking enough to hear when you waggle the pipes.

I don't want to trim them if it's not going to fix the problem. but I'm a bit nervous about taking the eas box apart too!

OK, panic over. I bit the bullet and removed the old connectors and the new ones went on easily. I was afraid the pipes inside the EAS box would simply push inside, but they didn't.

New connectors = no more leaks (well, going by the soapy water test anyway!).

Now should I put my new front air springs on or leave well alone...!

Hi.. I bought some new bags, the bloke at the store said " The air pipes may be scratched as a result of pulling them out from the collet...!..The scratches can cause the air to leak.. So the tube may need trimming so a clean smoooth pipe end is pushed in.. Make sure you have enough tubing so when you do trim it will reach.. Also make sure you cut it dead straight!.. You can also buy more tubing with conectors, so you will have plent spare!....

Ok, I may have been slightly premature...

In the 6 hours since I 'fixed' it, the back has dropped an inch.

I couldn't detect any leaks on either end of the pipes, so should I be thinking valve block overhaul?

Are there any connectors in the pipes between the eas box and the rear airbags?

dont panic,it could be just the EAS levelling itself out thats all.if it continues to drop then look for a pipe leak.

Hi Gemsdad,

I had the tailgate open so it's definitlely a leak somewhere, but it's much better than it was so I'm not as bothered as I was - just want to fix it!

In the morning, one rear corner had dropped slightly more than the other but it's still 3 - 4 inches overnight which isn't good (but better than the half hour that it was previously!).

hi,have you done the soapy water test on the airbag that is dropping down,also if the pipes are still leaking,just try wrapping a piece of PTFE tape round the pipe,only use one or two turns round the pipe though,it might work.

Well I've not bothered testing the airbags themselves as they are both brand new. Perhaps I should.

I can't find any leaks in the pipework using the soapy water test - that's why I'm thinking it might be o rings in the valve block.
