Ok probably a very good reason but I don't know what it is the air pipe between the air filter and the plenum what are the boxes that hang off the bottom for? It's on the gems engine dono about thor

Isn't it something to do with setting up resonance pulses to smooth and increase the flow of air into the inlet manifold.

These things....?

Just found out that they also save your bacon if you take a lung full of water through the air box and filter. Took this inlet duct off after a bow wave got into the air filter box. Engine cut out instantly. Luckily no further damage to engine. Air filter element was trashed. These two chambers were half full of water that without them probably would of hydraulic end the cylinders

Lucky escape. A past car of mine sucked water and stopped. Stepped out into a oil-slick. A piston-rod had cut out through the back of the engine and sliced the starter-motor in 2, like a knife through butter.

That's bad news. We were lucky. I think we'd been slowly picking up water all day. Yarwell Quarry. Sand had blocked the small drain at the bottom of the airbox. We were only sill deep but the wash from the tyres got past the left wheel arch liner.
No more water for us. Stick to the mud n hills
