Hi Guys,

Can anybody tell me the part number for the adaptor that fits the air hose to the manifold on a Series 3 2.25 Diesel???? I want to replace the tacky K&N filter with an original - I have the filter and hose but the one I have is for a petrol engine I think?

I have attached a picture from the internet that shows the part, but for some reason I can't see it in the parts catalogue???

Also, there are a couple of smaller hoses attached the one I have with a T joint, which I don't seem to have on my current set up? anybody know if these are required on my 1975 diesel, and where they come from??? the only one I can see that makes sense to me is from the rocker cap breather, which I believe goes into the adaptor noted above, but what would the other one be???

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

its the butterfly valve for creating vacuum for the brake servo.
cant remember if i chucked one out or pulled it from the scrap pile at last minute. will have a look and get back.

Thanks nrgserv....

Not having servo type brakes might explain why it's not there.... would that mean that the air hose just fits straight onto the manifold and the rocker cap breather just vents to the engine bay space?

I've also seen some mentions of a crank case breather.... any idea where that is supposed to go to?

As you can probably tell.... this is all new to me, but learning all the time

Cheers

cant remember where the breather attaches into the intake, from the rocker breather. will have a look in the o&m manual after dinner.
the tee piece pipework in your pic, i think (tho cant see for definate), is part of the vacuum servo system. one end goes to brake servo, one goes to vacuum resovoir mounted infron of screenwash bottle, last one goes to butterfly valve. this might explain why it aint there on yours.

are these attached to an elbow? if so, its for the petrol engine and yes its the breather.
remove the elbow and attach flexi pipe to inlet manifold direct.
looked in the manual but couldnt find where they attach on the diesel engine and cant remember from memory.

vent to atmosphere on this one.
what breathers has yours got?

cheers RR1, thems the bits i was describing, but the op dont
have servo assist, so do all breathers vent to atmosphere or
into the manifold?
your first pic shows breather from rocker top going to butterfly valve, non servo's
dont have the butterfly.
so where does the breather attach?

Thanks RR1 - appreciate your time and effort, but as NRGserv said I don't have new fangled things like servo brakes... Seems hose just goes straight onto manifold and the rocker breather may onto a little adaptor type thing that I have since found at the opposite end of the manifold (facing the bulkhead) - not sure if original or later adaption but will give it a go eh???

Heavy boots and plenty of forward planning!!!!!!!

I don't like to think of it as having no servo..... more an anti-lock braking, skid-avoidance system!!!!!!!!!:crazy_driver:

Thanks GMan, but I quite like the adrenaline rush of no servo - there's nothing quite as exhilaration as seeing a road junction a couple of hundred yards ahead and wondering if you'll stop in time!!!!!!

Actually once you get used to amount of pressure needed to push the peddle down it's OK (honest!!!)

lots of uber quick motors dont have servo assisted brakes - tiz the norm on F1 motors  they seem to stop quick enuf..

hi guys are you still there?
I am also trying to get my servo working at the minute there are no tubes at all.
but from this information i can see that one comes from the servo, one comes from the the air column thing on the top of the engine but i cant see where the 'bottom of the T' goes to. i think it goes to the inlet manifold but i dont know where it is, what it is or recognize that picture!. To get it working is a just a easy case of attaching the tubes and nothing else?

Did you ever find the parts numbers?

I got a diesel 2.25 109 series 3 1980

Thanks!

right the rocker oil breather hose goes into the other end of the inlet manifold on mine via something that resembles a core plug with a 10mm brass pipe in the centre of it giz a few mins see if ive got a pic (mine is also non servo assisted brakes)
