The petrol/LPG discovery I have just got has a lifetime washable king dragon air filter on, can anyone tell me how to clean it please.

are the k&n filters that are custom made for the disco1 airbox any good or would you go for the type that doesnt have airbox around it,also what happens if you get water in your engine bay does it go through the airfilter is is it water proof

K&N do make a filter to fit the air box, also the cone style.
I only fitted one on my hobby car as part of the engine tuning which includes big valve head, high lift cam, exhaust and a few other go faster bits, the filter only gives me an extra 3bhp so I dont see the point on a standard disco.

What happens if you get water in the engine bay, well the same as any air filter they dont like it. :)

I have heard that a light spray with 3&1 light oil will do the same job as the K&N oil but have not tried this. My K&N needs cleaning so will try giving it a bath in hot soapy water and see what happens.

I use a BMC race filter on the bike, just wash out in hot soapy water as suggested then if you have time (i do with bike) immerse the filter in two stroke oil and leave standing for a day for the excess oil to drain off.

It's surprising the amount of ****e that comes from mine and that's washing every 1000 miles!
