Air conditioning

It don't work.....

Picked my 300tdi ES auto up today and the light comes on but nothing gets cold.....

Anything to check before I take it in to be regased......

How much is this going to cost me...? Can I buy anything to do it myself.?

do a search its bin covered more times than "what mpg can i get?"

When you press the button, do the engine revs drop slightly, or the engine appear to labour a bit more? If not then the electro-clutch probably isn't engaging which would give you a starting point for fault finding. If it does then a trip to your local aircon man is probably called for.

If it needs refilling then make sure they find out where it's leaking from and stop that or you'll be back there again soon

Will check that tomorrow....But I did find the filling cap and gave it a little press......it hissed....

A classic problem with air con is that it's not used enough, in the gas there are special lubricants that stop all the joints in the system from drying out,these then dry out and you lose your gas & unfortunately just re-filling the system wont cure it.

What do you need air con for anyway?

What in England?

My last 3 cars had aircon until this one and I had bother with em all,aircon polutes more,cost's you more in fuel and is just another thing to go wrong.
Just got back from Spain 35°C+ (In the shade) and must admit was a little apprehensive before setting off with my 2 year old and the heat factor but it was great!sound as pound with all the windows down.The problem is that we are all turning into a race of poofs that have to have homes centraly heated to 26°,and then drive around in fridges when it's hot with all the windows up looking like ****s!

Yeah windows down, painfully trying to hear the radio over the wind blast, watching maps fly out the windows at 70mph, kids losing an arm or two.....hair resembling a haystack.

I prefer comfort myself

Quick fit have sorted it.......now getting 5degree......ah.... no more open windows and sunroof....£45................

Glad to hear it's sorted. What was the problem?

Just needed re gassing.......
