My air conditionig motor that sits on the top left of the engine seem to have stopped spinning, are these easy to strip down and try to unsieze or is it a specialist job, a mecahnic friend has said i should see it spinning when its on when i look at the front of the motor but its not, the second readiator fan kicks in and the switch in the car seems to be working.
I am going to check the fuses in the meantime as my rear wiper isnt working, but my mate said he doubts it will run off the same fuse as that.

Do you mean the compressor, the pully should be turning all the time as it is belt driven, are you saying that the clutch is not engaging and therefore the the compressor is not turning, then it could be a faulty clutch or you have a problem with the electrical circuit that operates the clutch.
Is the red warning light showing on the A/C master switch?

Thanks for the replies, what do you mean by the AC Master switch? where is this, if you mean the switch in the car then yes this comes on, i will go out now and see if i can hear a click on the passsenger side, the pulleys spinning fine. I didnt realise it was called the compressor.

Will let you know in a few minutes thanks for the help.

I can hear a click in the passenger side whenthe AC switch is pressed in, the pulleys spinning as normal but ive been told that i should see the inside spinning as you can see in the picture .

Yup thats the clutch bit. I would check to see if there is sufficient gas in the system first as it wont work if theres not the right amount of gas in there.

Ahhh i see, i wouldnt know how much gas is in, is there anyway of checking that, that might be the problem with it.

I believe Kwik Fit will do an air con check. I believe they do a regas for about 50 quid. The check may be free though. Ring them and ask.
