Can i get a diy kit to recharge the system? If so, where? n lastly, How much? 1.8 es petrol on y reg. been quoted lots to ave it done!

halfords do em - get one with a gauge - not sure on price - but they are good.

Make sure yu try and fill at the correct point - and hope yu aint got any leaks.

i used a £40 kit from halfords last summer it lasted for about 6 months then it started to deteriorate i do not have any leeks in my system its just happens, i would not use one again as you are better going to a pro and paying £80ish as they will suck a vacuum on you system first and fill it properly and give you a guarantee

it just happens..thats brill
ave been using refills fer years and thur fine. as we speak i am bodg erm making a vaccum pump to help get the stuff into one of me cars that has completely emptied since it was last used, some years ago.
am sure the mighty ming will be along to tell you how good refill kits are.
but like yer maun says "get one with a gauge"

yup they are good , git one wif oil in it un like slob sis get er gauge un jist wack it in ,like ta put mine on max when i drive in ma thunders un it freezes porky's dribbles. . . .:D

you only get problems wiff the kits if you either let the system empty completely, you have a major leak or you have moisture in there.

if the system is completly empty ,or nearly, then the pump can't kick in to help suck the gas in.

a small leak then the leak stopper in the kit will plug in
and as fer moisture that just causes all sorts of problems

so as long as yer system is working and just needs a top up the kits are ok if it dint work at all then seek professional help.

but if you can get a full recharge fer £42 quid then go fer it, just be wary that its not a ploy to get you in then they hit you wiff major work required

AA service centre in bangor did mine last yr for £60 inc vat and there werent any strings attached. However that was a Mondeo. Things may well be different with the Disco!

interesting thats saying to me then i have or could have moisture in the system,as my system was showing i had gas in it but not anuth to engage the pump ,so i filled it with the halfords £40 kit to the recommended pressure on the gauge and it worked very well all summer but now the air temp is no where near that of summer . i have checked the pressure and that is fine ,is there a way you can dry the system out or where do i go from hear ? ta

as far as i know the only way to dry them out completely is to change yer dryer and have the system under vacuum fer abart 30mins or so.
can you hear the pump clicking when you turn on yer A/C or can you see the center of the pulley turning when the A/C turned on. if the center of the pulley int turning then yer pump int working..
either low pressure or faulty switch/clutch

slobs reet . . . .when the dryer is fooked gota replace it , seen um on flea bay. . .but now is the time ta sort out ya a/c problems. . . .
