Air con/blower problem

Ok, so I seem to have a problem with my Freelander (apart from the fact that it's a Freelander!!)

The blower/air con bit seems to have packed up. When I turn the blower dial it does nothing till I hit 4 , then there's a click that seems to be coming from the blower motor. Also, not sure if its related, but there seems to be some pink stuff coming from the motor.

Anyone got any ideas?

If it does nothing until it hits 4 then it's the resistor in/for the blower switch, does the blower work on 4? otherwise you need to check the blower motor itself.

I take it it's an 1.8 petrol engine you have ? Is the pink stuff coming from the motor not coolant liquid ?? (HGF ???)
