2006 Tdv6 Air compressor

Hi gents
I’ve bought a second D3 that needs a few things sorted on it.

Occasionally the yellow suspension light comes on and stops the suspension from working, switch it on and off again and it’s fine.
The suspension goes up and down normally although does give a loud ‘shooosh’ when releasing air....my other one is totally silent.
Obviously something not right so decided to remove it and have a butchers.

First thing I found was a large hole in one of the air pipes, how on earth does it work at all?
All three bracket mounting clips broke when removing.
The two air pipes on the right are impossible to remove, no matter how much WD I used. (Cut through the pipes in the end)
The dryer when first opened was full of dust, must have been blocking the vent.
Otherwise all dry And fairly clean inside .

I’ve got a new dryer on order, also a new kit to repair the pipes that have been cut.

Just need to find some bracket mounting clips.

The hole must be in the exhaust line then.

they did have some funny connectors and can’t remember what the solution was but believe kit is available.

Rebuild both and get the new type cap for the drier as they can leak between the 2 fittings.

I will ask a man that does Know @gstuart your brain is needed

Powerful UK had the mounting kit, its out of stock at the minute as i am after one myself

In relation to the hole you can obviously cut it at the hole and rejoin with approved inline connectors, looks like its been rubbing against something

I believe the drier caps can crack ( the plastic ones ) and have seen the alloy variants in the kits

Dessicant and filter kits on ebay 15 quid.

If you follow that holed pipe I think it leads to the filter?

You only need the speed fit connectors about £1 each not those full repair kits at that price look for air line bits on the bay

Hiya

plus 1 in just needing the dryer , u can however have issues removing the old one, if u do change it use some clear silicone grease on the O ring where it fits onto the compressor

ref the pipe , one will be the exhaust the other inlet front the inlet filter

indeed get a plastic pushfit coupling , then use something like a garden hose as sleeving to protect if from rubbing against the chassis again

another trick to get pipe out of the fittings are use a pair of pliers, put then near the pushfit collar then use a screwdriver to push the collar in , or get some cheap pushfit collar pliers off eBay

if the pipe is hard to get in do a loop , ensure the compressors bracket rubbers are ok, I also bought stainless steel bolts , alas had to fit a new bracket as the old one was broke, not all new brackets from with the rubber mountings

the white dust can cause havoc on the system, disconnect both ends of pipes and use an airline to blow them out, use a colander to seive the dust from the silica and put the good stuff into a microwave to dry it out

when all done, use some soapy water to ensure it’s all sound

I also used a vacuum hand pump and gauges to test each circuit to ensure there were no leaks , but alas mine was in a right mess so basically ended up rebuilding virtually most of it
