Aftermarket water temperature gauge

Hia all, just about to fit some extra gauges in my defender, it has a 200tdi engine in it, I want to fit an extra water temperature gauge , where is the best place to install the sensor as I want to leave the old one in place, any help appreciated thanks

I fitted a Tim capilliary one from ebay but I used the original sensor hole and dash hole the gauge looks oe and is dead accurate all the time unlike the standard one.

Why don't you fit five. Four for comparison and one that shows the mean of the others. That should sort it.

The standard one is crap.Just fit the one Lynall links,you will even be able to tell when the thermostat opens.

It's a disco engine in it, the old gauge is crap and cracked and I got a raptor dash being delivered today, wanted the boost gauge and egt gauge so I can tune the engine a little so was gone get a set of three gauges ta match for the new dash and leave the old them gauge in place , thinking now will replace the old team gauge with the Tim one , looks original and decide on another gauge just to fill the spare cutout , anyone recommend matching gauges as not ordered them as yet and which other gauge would be most beneficial

I went for volts, oil pressure, boost as below on the Raptor dash. Gauges are Chinese "Dragon Gauges" from eBay but do the job. Ignore the readings on the oil press and boost, the sensors were not wired in at the time.


Normal dash is speedo, oil temp & water temp, fuel, clock


You will probably need two thread converters plus the sender unit itself for the thermostat housing, Durite, available from Steve Parker. You'll also need a T piece if you want oil temp and pressure.

Because the standard deviation is less susceptible to extreme values compared to the mean

Thanks for ya advice, my raptor dash came this morning, all fitted along with the side trims and new binnacle shroud as the old one was broke, think I will go for turbo boost, egt , water temp and voltage,
