Has anyone fitted this product to their defender?
Is it a worthwhile security mod which stops the bonnet being opened and or the bonnet being stolen.
I am thinking of fitting them but unsure if it is as secure as I think it is.

Fitting them has added to the security of the bonnet and what is under the bonnet.
The product is well made fitted easily after making two brackets.
After watching the U-Tube video I thought fitting them a little further forward than indicated in the video would be better so
I did plan the positioning of them to aid strength and reduce the cutting of the bonnet strengthener and to look better.

After watching the video on line http://wn.com/land_rover_defender_aerocatch_fitting
I used basically the same method but I thought that fitting the catches further forward would look better both under the bonnet and on the outside, also I did not want to hack away at the stiffening skin as much as was necessary in the video.
The stiffening skin has from the factory a cut-out section to miss the bonnet stay bracket so I wanted to utilise this for the fitting of the catch.
I measured up and taking a number of things into consideration like the radiator, bonnet stay bracket, trim expansion pipe etc I decided my best location.

I made the brackets out of stainless steel but mild steel would be suitable. See drawing of bracket this is the drivers side (UK drivers side) bracket you will need to make a mirror image for the other side.
It is fitted using the two M6 bolts holding the bonnet stay bracket in place. The bracket has an additional M6 bolt hole to be drilled and tapped last when all fitted.
Hope this helps.
