Morning all.
Myself and a few mates are hoping to organise a long laning weekend in early march in Yorkshire and I was hoping for a little help and advise from the locals.

Main one is between the Moors and Dales is one noticeably better for green lanes than the other? Both in terms of amount available and challenge level.
What about places to stay? I'd be ok with a campsite but I expect the others would rather something a bit more building like. When we went to Wales a couple of years back we got a great deal on a coupleif holiday cottages off season.

Any help would be greatly appricated

Cheers Chris.

I take it you're familiar with the process of checking with local authorities etc. on the status of lanes. OS Explorer maps might show places to stay. Apart from that, me not being local can't help sorry. :(

Basically North Yorks moors have more aggressive lanes, Dales are more suitable for mixed abilities. Both areas are beautiful, capable of industrial landscapes or natural, breathtaking valleys to woodland, to moorland .. fantastic in good weather, moody and possibly treacherous in bad weather!

Dales have a few lanes that are technically challenging, Moors have a few more lanes that need winches .. both have good camping and B&B facilities, you wouldn't be disappointed in either area ... or a mix of both, but that'd be a lot of road driving so depends for how long you'd be up there.

Give me a few days and I'll think more about it .. ;)

Is the group all blokes, families, kids, women??? If camping, wild camp, cheap and rough, or full blown smart glamping??? Vehicles, all prepared or SUV and road tyred ??? Roughly how many vehicles in the group??

Have to admit I'm not that clued up on that however other lads in the group will know what to do on that part.

Probably looking at 5 days including traveling up and back down to Essex, so maybe stick with one area. Last time was a group of 15 I think with 9 trucks. Mostly blokes with a few wifes/gf's and one young child. B&b's or preferably holiday cottage type affair would be ideal.
Most vehicles would be suitable equipped for offloading with bigger tyres, modified suspension, winches etc. Certainly enough to be able to rescue each other if it was required.

Are lot love a challenge so the Moors sounds an exciting prospect.

If you need any help give me a shout, I live right in the middle of the dales, a good pub B&B is the Bolton arms at Redmire Good beer and fantastic food also lots of good holiday lets, as I say give me a shout if you need to.

Well it's still something we want to do, other contender is north Wales.
Are there any multi-people holiday homes round that way? Off peak they are usually great value for a group sharing.
