Yeah, my thoughts exactly, but the guy im buying it from says it wont fit. I just wonder if there is a slight difference between the 2?
Well it hangs over the top of the door and to stop it moving side to side it used the bolts that hold the plastic number plate lamps/lock handle cowling, I don’t have one but that’s my knowledge of it.

I’ll have a look in my accessories catalogues when I get home, I have book for both models and will check the part number for both, although it maybe that the D2 has an updated part number of the D1s item so won’t tell us much.

Just to add this is based on genuine parts, there are so aftermarket items that may not fit as simply as the genuine item does.

Ok the genuine parts are different, D2 part number is STC50134 and from the picture the rear door has to be drilled with two holes just below the door lock handle cowling to fix the base of the ladder.
You can check and confirm what’s involved as I believe the D2 workshop manual has a chapter on fitting accessories, perhaps the ladder is included.:)

The D1 part number is STC8125 and it ‘appears’ at the base of the ladder there’s welded short flat plates turning upwards to reach under the cowling and reuse the existing cowing fixing bolts to retain the ladder, therefore no hole drilling required.:)j

Genuine uses round tube, aftermarket uses square tube.
