Hi All...Just thought I’d post a thread to help prevent you guys/gals on having the same problem I had with my '99 Disco 2 with the RED ACE lights flashing and chiming last night...

Note - All Fluids were checked by myself 4 Days ago...and all were fine and at the correct levels....I hadn't had any problems with the Landy for a few weeks......and of course, the inevitable happened :hysterically_laughi

Luckily, I was only 1 Road away from the home...driving in the snow.....RED ACE light flashing on and chiming....Oh F**K me thinks .... Stopped immediately, lifted the hood....no ACE fluid in reservoir...Doh.

Restarted and got her home quick... (I know I shouldn’t have....but it was that or risk some t*t sliding into the side of her...DO NOT drive/Run it if the RED warning light is on!!!! you can f**k up the pump and cause many more problems...

On inspection, there was ACE fluid all around by the ACE pump/ splashed up on Exhaust and surrounding areas...:eek:

Topped the reservoir up this morning....( I was dreading working on the Landy today, of all day's I’m out there in the Freezing snow! ) Started the car and traced the leak knowing the area it was coming from was around the pump/pipes coming to/fro the ACE reservoir and it turned out it was leaking from the ACE pump area.... Me is thinking....

It was pee'ing out from the ACE pump pressure union Bolt.... and it was Bloody loose!!!

I recommend you all check this bolt is done up tightly, I've never topped up ACE fluid, so can only assume the bolt has vibrated loose, (and not uncommon after doing some research...) to save YOU the hassle more than anything of a ver inconvenient breakdown....and if the Disco is kept running the cost (Could be a good few hundred quid for new pump/belt etc etc) for the sake of taking 10 minutes of your time...and it's very simple.

Remove the airbox, take the top part off first (2 clips holding it on), then remove the filter...then unscrew the 2 nuts holding the air feed into the wing then unscrew the 2 nuts holding the air feed into the wing then the airbox base just pulls upwards, may have to give it a good tug... and out it will come.
Now you have access you can check the 19mm Pump pressure union Bolt on the side of the ACE pump is done up tight....it's in at a slight angle, but easy access once the airbox is out

It was a nice Cheap, EASY fix.

Be interesting to know if anybody else's is on the loose side too..

Hope this is of help/use to some of you.

Cheers and merry Xmas :D:)
