advice req on engine update

My 2.25 is tired and requires updating, shall i go down the 200 tdi route or have my 2.25 reconed.

Also the gearbox is in need of some attention also as it crunches into 3 and 4, I should say the engine is a 5 brg and the gearbox is a syncro on all gears.

I do have a spare bottom end as this overheated and a valve seat fell out and made a mess of the head etc.
What sort of cost for the two options, I can fit the engine and gearbox as I changed the clutch a while ago outside on my own without a crane or lift !!!!

How about knocking the turbo off it and doing a 200di conversion instead? Gives you a well under stressed engine with more of a 'factory' style performance

Is it diesel or petrol?
