02 Freelander V6i ES
Hi all,new here as of this evening.
I may need new tyres for my wifes Freelander. It's still on the original 225/55/R17 Mithelin Syncrones having covered only 32000 miles with plenty of tread remaining. However the outer corners are showing signs of minor cracking which may fail a forthcoming MOT. We intend selling the Freelander in the spring so price is the only consideration for the new tyres. Would these be suitable replacements:
New Accelera 225/55/17 R 101W X/Load High Speed Tyres on eBay, also, Tyres, Car Wheels, Tyres Trims, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 02-Nov-08 16:50:08 GMT)
There are plenty of Freelander2 alloys and tyres on ebay, size 235/65/R17. Do Freelander2 alloys fit Freelander1 and can this tyre size be used on my existing alloys.
Thanks for any advice.

before you waste ya dosh, wait and see what the MOT examiner says. If you are friendly with the garage, or go there regularly, go and ask for the examiners opinion the day before.

My tyres have got lots of little cracks on them, but sailed through MOT. I checked with examiner, and in his opinion it didn't even warrant an advisory, he sees quite a few cars like it now.

Obviously, if the cracks are big or deep, that might not be the case.

However, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES listen to anything any of the big fast fit organisations tell you, they will only want to sell you new tyres.

Freelander 2 wheels don't fit freelander 1's

My Michelin Synchrones also exhibit a little cracking marks at the edges - have passed the MOT fine.

Leave them fitted, they are a much better tyre than the cheapo 225/55/17 you mention.
