Still waiting for the insurance to assess it........don't know what they have been up to but I have phoned them every day, telling them its costing £20 a day where it is!!. They are supposed to be going tomorrow (Friday). After all your encouraging remarks about the paint coming off eventually with a lot of hard work I am intending to buy it back providing they don't want silly money. I now know it was found in Arborfield, Reading so if anyone sees anyone covered in that colour paint around there, let the police know!!. Someone must have seen it being driven around.....you can hardly miss it.

I painted my lighweight by hand....was great for touch-ups. I agree with seeing how much they offer you. How much of the work can you do yourself and roughly where are you.....sorry you had to go through this..been there twice myself.

Nick.

I am in Tetbury, not far from you. Do you know anyone local who would do the respraying should I not be able to get the paint off or damage whats underneath. (For a reasonable price)

Tough luck with that. Insurance companies aren`t noted for their generosity so when you get an offer from them query it. Argue. Remember you aren`t trying to be mates with them, and no matter if, or no, you argue you aren`t likely to walk away from this situation with-out taking a loss. Letting this car go because of a coupla weeks of abuse may mean you buy another car with years of abuse followed by a quick polish up.
Steaming/ Pressure washing seems like a good idea for a low cost try-out. Can`t do much harm! If trying for professional spray job get at least 2 or 3 estimates. Personal recommendations about quality of workmanship are worth more than saving a few quid tho`.
