Hi from rainy Milton Keynes!
So i have got myself a 300tdi 97 90 van, i convinced myself (or was it the Mrs :D) that i needed it for work. Well in truth working nights on the railway there certainly are occasions when negotiating some of the railway access points, the 90 comes into its own. Anyhow, i spent all the £ and got a real nice one, its done 9000 miles on a new chassis and a Turner Engineering - Remanufacturer of Land Rover Engines and supplier of Land Rover engine parts reman engine. The body is straight ,seats re upholstered, new cubby box, everything (as far as i am aware) is working just as it should.

To be honest I was considering not going off road with it as it so nice but who am i kidding?? Its gotta be done right? So finding the time yesterday i called up a buddy and arranged to meet up at Whaddon, never been there in a landy before but remembered it from my enduro racing days. Well half hour into the mud ,tracks, crowd i knew i would be spending allot more of my spare time (and £) perusing similar activities :D:D

Trouble is i know i need to upgrade the suspension, wheels ,tyres, etc, as my mate had to drag me around quite a bit due to bottoming out.But there is so much choice out here!! i need an idiot guide  What do you guys recommend? How high? full or part kits? what brands?

One other thing, i found Cowleys in Whaddon by chance last week & had a chat with the lady in there about quoting for various possible upgrades, she was helpful enough but asked me to look on the internet and decide what i wanted then she could quote, well fair enough but that brings me right back here. I don't really know what i want, i just know what i want it to do. Not get stuck in every deep puddle & climb steep hills:clap2: Perhaps some of yous guys have used Cowleys and have had similar positive experiences and can recommend there workmanship?

Thanks i advance!

:welcome: start with tyres then look at lifts if the tyres you want dont go under the arches, after that its as much or as little as you want to do really, but good tyres are the first thing you should be looking at, after all a lot of stock 90s get about very well with just that and not much else.

Thanks DP. My job got cancelled tonight so i took the time to research the forum properly,i feel a bit of a **** now to be honest  seems i got off lightly so never mind!

Anyhow i'me off to find some wheels/tyres cheers.

welcome as discopol said tyres first then have a look and see and what tyres depends on where you are planning on going and how much time your planning on spending on the road, as for lifts and bolt ons first wait and see how you get on take your time and get to know your landy (sounds like you have a good one) pics please :nopics:

Fella... if you are in Milton Keynes then get yourself over to the hertfordshire green lanes fred... they include MK too.

Meet 1st wed of every month in Dunstable and would love to see you there. More advice and experience than you can shake a stick at... and a few horror stories as well!

There's even talk of an inter region punch challenge...(us against essex high heeled sandaled wearers)

Come on down...sounds like your motor could end up being a little.... err..... muddy!

first thing to consider is what are you going to do green laining or pay and play
both will need mud tyres
but a snorkle is one of the best things to add after you have sealed your seat box so that it is impervoius to warter
then get some waiding plugs
then a steering guard and diff sliders
then a winch bumper
then a winch warn 9.5 ti is good
then a cb radio
then a mid seat cubby box to put the cb in
then extended break lines
and so on this is an ongoing project lol like ming is
oh i forgot then a light bar so you can mount the cb arieal ect ect

S&T Contractor mate. Don't "need" a land rover as such, but this last winter i did find myself wishing i had one. Some of the access roads can be quite dodgy, especially in the dark & snow. More than once guys have torn off sump plugs from trannies & the like.

But no,as said i talked myself into getting one really. Ideal for the dogs, trailer, etc.

You on track then?
