hi all, is it possible/worth it to fit an alarm to my 110 ex mod? i want security measures so tracker/fuel pump cut-out switch/alarm are all options. thoughts, please, you geniuses

the way ther disappearing lately fit large patio doors to house and park it in your dinning room.As for worth it?? fit as much security as you can afford.Even chain it to ground post.

The first thing you should get is a steering lock. Disclock is my prefered method of choice. You need to make sure that you turn the steering on full lock too in order for it to work best.

Alarms and immobilisers are great but knowing how basic defenders are and how easy the security is to overcome they are not difficult to bypass/silence. A proxy sensor is always worth fitting though. At least it'll chirp if anyone gets too close.

Could always hook a proxy sensor to the tracker...letit text you when someone gets close. Ony useful in somesituations but still!
Do a search on this forum - Security has been covered a lot. Ive got disklok and pedal lock on my 110. I fitted a cut off switch to my last 90 too. It will all slow any theif down a little but at the end of the day if they want to take it then they will. Just make sure you have it insured. You can probably get an ex mod 110 (depending on age) on a specialised classic policy with agreed value.

Realise it is a personal choice......but I always get worried around messing with defender electronics. They seem to me to be the bit that goes wrong and cant be fixed so I am reluctant to introduce a new system into the works that relies on the electrics and stops the bugger starting!! But then I also accept that I am fortunate to live in a low crime area and so perhaps have less to worry about.

However, you can deter the likely lads who want to take it quickly without fuss. Disklocks work well and are visually obvious. Same goes for the clutchclaw, but not as obvious.
Messing with the electrics is debatable as they are already temprimental.
Cut off switches are good but can be found and overidden.
Best bet is to lock it away with a couple of nasty dogs!!
