Its a long story but I have replaced my front prop shaft, wrecked some of the nuts and bolt heads in the process and am about to fit 8 new TF box and Diff end with the new prop shaft.
The only issue is that on the Transfer Box side, one has to remove the output shaft nut and washer (huge great thing) in order to get the old bolts out and put new ones in.
My questions is that when I loosen and tighten that output shaft nut, is it safe to do so purely against the gearbox with its diff locked, i.e. to provide the reverse force to loosen and tighten the nut?
I know there is a special tool that can be used to tighten this up and keep the transfer gearbox out still in order to tighten to 160 Nm but I dont have this.
[FONT="]Any advice on how best to tighten this back on given my limitations.
