Hi All,
Glad to be part of this forum. This is my first post and hope to make many more in the future.
I have been in discussion for a while with the owner of the Series 2a, diesel, 1968, and would like opinion for someone more experienced, to tell me if its reasonable purchase.
Car has been for last two years mainly parked in the garden, under the tree, badly painted couple of years ago and had engine completely restored. Owner just said clutch is leaking and there are signs of the rust on the belly, but he say surface rust only. From the photos I see signs of rust protruding on the bonnet and also interior need to be replaced completely. For the last two years only been driven through the yard.
Main concern is that i live in Montenegro and parts are really hard to come by. If the bulkhead is bad and chassis needs replacement, this will be very hard to procure. On the other hand, Series 2a is really hard to come by around these parts and even when there is one for sale, it commands much bigger price.
Owner is asking 1,500 EUR for it.
What do you guys think? Is the price reasonable, should I get it or chase something better.
Intention is to start restoration as soon as i get it, starting from the chassis.
