Hi All...bought front and rear OME springs and am a bit confused over the installation of the "A" and "B" springs in each pair. OME website says:
"Old Man Emu springs are normally "handed". That is, there is one driver-side spring and one passenger-side spring per pair. This usually results in a listing vehicle toward the passenger side on most Land Rovers. To prevent this, we "match" our springs into two DS or two PS springs per pair"
Anyone got a clear understanding of this statement?
Also....I noticed that when you order OME springs, there is also a "DS" version for any given pair...so are they trying to say when ordering for a landrover you should order a DS "Matched" pair instead of just the standard pair?
Also....found this comment on another OME website:
A/B Fitment
As a general rule, the A springs have a higher free height than the B coils. This is to allow the fitter to compensate for driver weight, aftermarket accessories, vehicle weight distribution, and chassis twist. We suggest taking measurements at each corner before fitting the new suspension components. This will allow for more accurate A/B fitment.
In vehicles with front and rear A/B springs, most of these vehicles will be happiest with an A coil fitted to the front, driver corner and the opposite rear, passenger corner. In vehicles with only rear A/B springs, most will end up with the A spring on the rear, driver corner.
It must be understood that due to the A/B variation, the first spring selection may result in the vehicle to be unlevel. If this is the case, swapping spring locations is necessary before trying other trimming methods.
If anyone's nailed down which way to go on a disco 2 (either buy a "matched" pair or buy the standard pair and do the crossover A/B thing) please let me know.
