Looking for a bit of advice on which diesel engine to put into my classic range rover 3.9v8 the car is running a zf 4speed gearbox with borge Warner transfer box with 35 inch tyres looking for good on road pull also good offroad. Been thinking td5 or maybe an Isuzu engine any suggestions would be appreciated

Assuming it's a tidy classic? If so are you sure? Originals are going up in price constantly - oily conversion WILL de-value it. Why not spend half as much on a light restoration and sell at a profit?

Hello mate it tidy but not tidy enough for a resto plus it's my weekend offroad toy with my kids just looking for something that's not scared of a little water and not to bad on fuel and also that can keep up with the traffic

How about LPG cheaper to run and you keep the V8.

Most similar in performance is TD5 and they fetch a lot and will take quite a bit of installing

I get what you're saying but still think you should think twice - I've been messing about with old motors for years and it's always the same, 1st it's only immaculate examples that make money, then it's anything MOT'd, then it's anything that actually is still original and in one piece.................. You own an original RR Classic - that's better than money in the bank! Anyway petrol is cheap again............................
