Hi, need some input as to which way to go.
Recently bought tax exempt 88" 1972 series 3 with 10" drums. Adjusted and bleed system but pedal still comes up on second stroke about 1/2" higher although it`s now firm on both applications.
My theory is that the drums are worn and that because only the leading shoe has an adjuster the trailing shoe is retracting and then being pumped out on the initial stroke?

Can you give me your thoughts on the above and also.

Do I go down the route of replacing drums /shoes possibly all the pipework as some of it looks past its best and its a non split system.

Or bite the bullet and go over to converting to split system from later series with twin leading shoes on the front for better performance and safety, not sure if servo has to be fitted.

Long term I would like to fit a 2.5 petrol engine and convert to LPG but not sure how viable this is and how it effects tax status.

Thanks in advance ,fire away.:scratching_chin:

Yes, if you apply the brakes and then release the pedal and reapply straight away pedal, travel is reduced.
If pedal is released for 10-20 seconds pedal travel goes back to its original longer travel position.

Yes sounds like excess clearance, dont go bigger than the normal 109 tls front brakes . as the 1 ton brakes , are too powerful FMHE , good idea to go power assisted with split system as well
