Hi

I am looking at buying a 1999 Freelander 50th anniversary edition 2.0d. I would appreciate comments, both good and bad, and advice on what to look for.

Hi Gaz. . . Fink yours was the l series 2ltr the td4 came bout 2000 i fink. . . check on service history as far as yer can, its an easy motor for diy if thats ya bag , test drive it , and listen out for transmision whines, if yer can drive on slipper grass and see if the traction control works, steer it low speed left un right and listen fer any clunks cv noise ,check the rear window auto returns, look for signs of oil leaks underneath , bout it really, nice engine but the td4 is the more refined. . . .un best oh luck. . .:)

Good bit of advice from Ming there.

I think the Td4 is a bit quieter, but still plenty of torque from the l-series for towing trailer.

Heinz manual available for the FL 1997-2002 (except KV6 engine)
