Hey all I'm currently looking to buy a 2003 range rover vogue 4.4 petrol , it's sitting at 131k looks very clean for it's age inside and out , it's had 2 owners from new the guy in gonna be buying it off has owned it for the last 7 years , it seems to have had some work done to the box, suspention, boot seals, hard an flexi break lines both front an rear , also had a new pcv system ,the only problem he points out in the add is , he had the gear box recondioned 20k miles ago and seemed to have had a recon torque converter put into it , this is a copy of what is said in the add

"Torque converter has a slight shudder only when warm and the rumble is only noticeable when driving slowly under gentle acceleration.
I had it replaced with a recon torque converter when they reconditioned the gearbox, but on taking further advice maybe I should have gone for a new torque converter instead.
Quotes to replace the torque converter have been in the region of £600 supplied and fitted if it bothers you enough to have it replaced, or you can just leave it in sport mode where it's fine."

I've had a word with my mechanic witch is confident with land rovers and has said he can do the job , but I'm just wondering if that sound rite to be the torque converter ? Or could it possible be something else ? I'm going to look at this next Sunday the asking price was 5k and then dropped to 4600 , I'll be going over to have a test drive an a look over it , just wondering if there is anything else I should look for what will suggest it's definitely gonna be the torque convertor , any replies will be much appreciated thanks

Don't buy a car with faults at car without faults price. Get another one with less miles and better nick.

Depends on how much money you have and what you're willing to spend on it if you want a car wich is reliable get one without no known faults

Tbh I don't rely need a car I drive a mercedes cls 350 grand edition 59 plate with only 60k on the clock , I just fancy a change range rovers have always been something I've wanted to try , I don't mind getting my hands dirty an I don't mind spending the money were it's gotta be spent, so ain't rely fussy if it has a couple faults because as I said before I've got a mechanic ,who has years on old an new range rovers ,the range rover I'm going to look at is still one of the cleanest examples I've seen yet for a reasonable price, I've seen newer ones in worse condition, so rely it appeals to me that it's been well looked after for it's age it just shows how it's been treated , but I'll.be going up next Sunday to take a look,

Anything else I should be looking out for btw ino range rovers have alot of issues and I'm going into buying one with eyes wide open , just anything in general I should look or listen for would be good information thanks in advance

Never been in a rangey all I know is that doing certain jobs on engine requires body off and I don't like electrics on cars but that's just because I don't understand electrics in cars

Thought that was only on the range rover sport could be wrong , but your rite about the electrics I've been reading for days on here am came across so many problems , But then it seems people who buy range rovers also enjoy working on them an fixing them until the next problem crops up lol , love hate realtio ship kinda thing

The good thing about Landrovers with most cars if it breaks get a new one but with Landrovers you fix it
