Advice needed on oil leak

Hi all, couple of weeks ago posted a thread regarding my rear diff seal leaking on my 300 tdi, after some good advice i purchased a seal from craddocks & fitted it the same day. All was well for a couple of days & then it started to seep again, i then thought i may as well replace the flange as it might be leaking due to wear on the shaft. A new flange kit was purchased & fitted today, after a short trip to fuel up i rechecked the diff housing & much to my disbelief the ******* thing was leaking past the seal. To top the afternoon off the bloody transmission temperature warning light came on, can anyone give me a clue as to what might be going on, any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated. Snoops

Incorrect seal or fitted the wrong way round and the transmission tempreature sensor may be faulty.

Hi Discool, seal fitted correctly (fitted with the lip facing towards the flange) & i assume it is the correct seal as it was part of the kit & where about is the temperature sensor. Thanks for the reply Snoops

The temp sensor is in the oil cooler pipe just to the side of the oil cooler which is behind the grill below and infront of the rad, the sensor has an electrical connection out of the top .
I have no other 'silly' idears on why the flange is still leaking.

Hi discool, sorry its taken so long to reply. found sensor as described found cable to sensor very tight over pipes next to sensor, upon removing plastic cable shroud found sensor cable insulation broken. just a case of cutting out old cable & replacing it with new wiring using heat shrink connectors & heat shrink tubing just for good measure, started the truck up & low & behold the light did not come on. still a bit confused ref. the diff seal but whilst i had a couple of minutes thought I'd check my diff lock. brilliant i thought as the diff lock light came on, s**t i thought as the bloody thing did not go out. deep joy another job to do when i get home tomorrow. thanks again Snoops

Reverse a yard or two then it will extinquish.
