Hi. I started the Td4 a few days ago and the fuel gauge showed empty even though I knew there was at least a quarter of a tank of diesel. Brimming the tank made no difference.
Assuming the sender unit had failed I rang my Landy specialist and got a right shock.
A new part is nearly £400:eek:
I've bought a second-hand one for £50 and I'm hoping to fit it myself but I'm not very mechanically minded. So I would like to ask the forum members if I need any particular tools (other than matches) or additional parts.
This is not the intank pump with attached sender as mine's in the wheel arch. It's just the sender unit
Any advice you can give will be much appreciated.
Thanks David.

Thanks for that bushwacker.
I'd seen that, but as it applied to a pump I wasn't sure if it was the same for the sender unit.
David.

Same principal, same tank. The only difference is there isn't actually a pump in the pump/sener unit fitted to the TD4. The pump is separate, fitted under the arch liner.

You can get just the float and circuit board for about £50 from a main dealer, no need to change the whole thing.

Thanks for that longdog. The second-hand replacement arrived this morning, but it doesn't look in very good shape.
I'll ring my local main dealer this afternoon.

Well, Stratstone say there's no circuit board and float assembly..
They'll happily supply the whole thing for £376+VAT though.

I've found one on land-rover-parts- shop for Td4<06.
£53+vat.
I'll message them and confirm fitment..
A huge thank you to everyone for your help.
David

Hi Nodge. I've had a look at it but it's for petrol engines.
I'll have a look and see if there's any for diesel.
David
If you cross reference the part number: (YAD000080), you will find them all the same, petrol or diesel.
