ADVENTURE OVERLAND SHOW, Northants, 6-7 October 2012

I originally posted about this event in the General Chat section of the forum, but as it's slipped out of sight on Page No. ??? I thought I'd re-post it in this Expeditions category - seems appropriate!



ADVENTURE OVERLAND … the national 4x4, bike & trekking travel show.


Held at Whilton Mill, nr. Daventry, Northamptonshire NN11 2NH weekend of 6-7 October 2012, ADVENTURE OVERLAND aims to span the entire overland and adventure travel scene whether it be organised tours/safaris or independent travel.

Encompassing all forms of travel without bias, it will include everything from 4x4's to all-wheel-drive expedition trucks, trailbikes/enduro/dirt bikes to long-distance tourers, mountain bikes to tandems, adventure sports in the UK to treks, tours, expeditions and explorations in far-flung foreign lands.

It also incorporates an element that's linked to all these forms of travel - bushcraft - a specialised field encompassing survival skills, wilderness training, bushlore, tracking, navigation and first aid training, knowledge and application. In a nutshell, it's a new type of all-embracing event that has never been held before.

There will also be free entry to all overland vehicles/campervans/trucks over 3.5 tonnes as display vehicles, so please inform any owners you may know.

Rusty Rhinos are coming - should be Red the 63 S2A, E66 the RRC and the home-brewed trailer all coming over

Hi mate - Yep, pleased to report that ADVENTURE OVERLAND is looking great.

As for Billing, I'll be on Kieran's stand, so the Shiraz will be flowing. Say no more!

LOL. Shame, I can't make Billing, had tickets sorted everything, since live promo/lro made a mess of it can't get the time off, too short a notice.

Have to consul myself with a 3 week trip around Northern Spain and Portugal instead.

Il be there for the weekend. Looking forward to it.

A new attraction has been introduced at ADVENTURE OVERLAND - www.adventureoverlandshow.com

Were you aware that Whilton Mill is an internationally acclaimed karting centre that boasts two outdoor karting circuits? Well, due to public demand it has been decided to utilise the tracks as part of the ADVENTURE OVERLAND SHOW.

To this end, a 2-hr enduro race will be held evening of Saturday 6th October 2012 to establish the first ever “ADVENTURE OVERLAND SHOW - Enduro Karting Champions”.

The format is simple –

Featuring teams entered from participating clubs, traders and campers at ADVENTURE OVERLAND, after the show officially closes for the day at 17:00 hrs Saturday afternoon, a 20 min. practice session begins on the nursery Mill Circuit, then at 18:00 hrs. up to 20 teams (comprising of 4 drivers per team) will take part in a floodlit 2 hour enduro race on the National Circuit. The winners will be presented with an engraved, ongoing perpetual trophy to be kept by the winning team at their workplace or clubhouse for the following 12 months.

I am here to officially ask - would you like to enter a team? This can either be under the LandyZone banner or simply as a group of friends ... or both of course!

Entry fee is £200 per team, that’s just £50 per person (four drivers are mandatory per team). Thanks to Whilton Mill Karting, this special show fee is 50% off the standard ‘public price’.

The karts are Biz twin-engine 160cc pro-karts. All race overalls and safety gear supplied.

Telemetry - Computerised results analysing your driving performance will be issued at the end of your session. Similar to the printouts a Formula 1 driver will look over after every practice session, this is designed to help improve lap times.

Spectator areas will be available for clients, club mates, friends and family.

It should be noted, the organisers of ADVENTURE OVERLAND make no profit from the race, it is purely provided as a novel additional attraction for the visitors and participants of the show.

Yep, that is a shame mate, but given the choice between Billing and Northern Spain/Portugal, I know where I'd rather be ... lucky b****r!!!

Good username wanderlust4ever, have a feeling you'll fit right in at the ADVENTURE OVERLAND SHOW.

Myself and chief of staff domestic affairs will be there to, it will be our first show so to speak

Trade stands are completely full up (have been for nearly a month), loads of display vehicles, there’s a full programme of seminars/talks/lectures with some top people giving up their time, the bushcraft demo area has been set up, there’s even a floodlit 2-hr enduro kart race scheduled for the Saturday night – looking good!

Just remember to offer up a prayer to the rain gods to ‘take a weekend off’ for a change!

Camping ‘pay on the day’ still available although filling fast, plus of course day admission 10:00 – 17:00 Sat, 10:00 – 16:00 Sun. £10 adults, children under 16 yrs free.

Me, I’m off to site to start setting up, so see you all this coming weekend … it’s going to be a good ’un!

Tom, I just looked at this again and what you have achieved is exceptional. You could teach the 'mags' a thing or two organising shows. I put a little plug on our Facebook page for you and may be there myself on Saturday, not sure yet.
