Hello all,

As the username suggests I'm a keen but fairly hopeless novice at the Landy game though I'm a long time 'lurker' on this forum seeking help and advice for my own Landy problems. I've now come to a bit where I need to ask a question...

I am replacing my drooping old headlining with a kit from Lasalle trim - which is absolutely outstanding quality and I'd recommend to anyone. The new trim comes in two sections - front and rear - and the rear section has a moulded panel which stands proud of the roof and looks like it was designed to take a rear courtesy light.

My Defender didn't have a courtesy light in the rear but, whilst I have the headlining off and since once it goes back on it will be pretty permanent, it would seem a shame not to fit one. Looking at the wiring, it seems like there is already a plug pretty much situated right in the place where the supply for a light would be.

This leads me to wonder if that is indeed the wiring already in place for an optional rear courtesy light which, in my case, wasn't an option the original owner took.

The wiring that I take for a rear light is a single plug with 4x2 terminals and 4 wires (violet, violet/white, violet/blue & black) going into it. This is different from the front light which is one white 2x1 plug with 2 wires (violet & violet/white) plus a smaller black plug (1 black wire).

My questions are:
1) Is that 4x2 plug for a rear courtesy light?
2) If not, could I simply splice the appropriate wires to the ones for the front light to take a feed to a rear light
3) Are there different models of courtesy light for a Defender - which one do I buy?

Phew, thanks for bearing with me.

Cheers
